When Sim Racing meets mechanical sports: the case of DS TECHEETAH.
For several seasons now, car racing and sim racing (simulation racing) have grown closer together.
The evolution of machines and technologies allows simulation to become closer than ever to a real car racing experience.
Physics, behaviour, settings and replication have progressed so much that many professional drivers have started investing in time, money and energy in what many would consider « video games ». To name just a few : Lewis Hamilton, sponsor of the FIA finals on Gran Turismo Sport. Charles Leclerc, enjoyed his time off during seasons to drive on iRacing. And even Fernando Alonso, sponsor of a professional team and an international sim racing competition.
A bridge has been built between the real and the virtual world, and it can be crossed both ways: many virtual drivers dream of becoming professionals for prestigious teams that participate in various world cup competitions.
This is precisely why the DS TECHEETAH racing team has recruited a driver from the simracing scene to help its development. The sharpness, reflexes and technique of young video game drivers are often close to that of an actual racing driver, a fact that has been well understood by DS TECHEETAH.
With its knowledge of the esports and eracing scene and its enviable player/driver network, notably in sim racing, Stakrn facilitated the services of several of its retained drivers from Stakrn-Agency during the physical and technical testing that was carried out at the headquarters of DS TECHEETAH in Versailles.
Following the selection, Arthur LEHOUCK (@LehouckArthur) has been chosen as the official driver for the « DIL » simulator for the DS TECHEETAH racing team, which runs in the FIA Formula E world cup.
MR LEHOUCK will work side by side with the professional drivers Jean-Eric VERGNE and Andre LOTTERER, among others, to help the team design and setup the brand-new DS E-TENSE FE19 for the Coming season.
MR LEHOUCK is the second driver represented by Stakrn Agency to be recruited by a world class racing team, after Fabien « Seven » PIFFET (@SevenSenshu) was picked up by the Williams Esport Team.
